Stained-Glass....elegant in its beauty, simplicity, and color.
Woodland Orchids
Interpretation of a design entitled, "Woodland Orchids", from Three Swan Studios. Executed in shades of purple, violet, pink, and yellow; it is encased in green cotton and lame fabrics for contrast. A smaller wall-hanging, measuring approximately 27" x 27". The entire piece is framed by a triangular Prairie Point Border using the same colors and fabrics found in the orchids themselves. The design is machine-pieced, and then hand-quilted using silver metallic thread.
A closer view shows the delightful contrast presented by the use of both lame and cotton fabrics. The bias strips forming the stained-glass design are 1/4" in size, and cut from a dark-green marbled fabric, rather than the traditional black. It is a quiet and soothing piece, reminiscent of back-roads and woodland paths.
